1. Purpose

To clarify the approach to entertainment for the Society of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE or the Society) at its events.

2. Approach

The Society will not purchase or reimburse individual members for the purchase of intoxicants (including alcohol, cannabis, tobacco, or any other such intoxicants or medications) as part of the reimbursements for meals and other expenses outlined in Policy 8 – Travel.   

At the two main STLE events – the 3MNTF banquet and the annual conference banquet – STLHE will provide wine with dinner within the allowances of the conference budget.

The Society of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education assumes no responsibility for the behavior of individuals at its events, particularly in cases of their intoxication.  At all times, individual members of the Society retain full responsibility for their behavior at Society events.
