STLHE Board of Directors | Call for Nominations

The Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE) invites nominations for five (5) positions on its Board of Directors.
About the Board
The Board of Directors, consisting of twelve (12) members, is elected by the membership of the Society to oversee the Society’s activities. The Society elects its Directors, and the Directors elect, amongst themselves, the positions of Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer. The Board is responsible for setting the Society’s general policies and achieving its intended goals by planning and ensuring the continuity of the Society’s activities.
Meetings
Most of the Board’s business is conducted by email and online video conferencing. Meetings are held approximately once per month by online video conference and in person once or twice a year, such as during the STLHE Annual Conference in June.
Term of Office
The term of office is three years, beginning in June 2025 and ending in June 2028.
Position Requirements
- You are a STLHE member in good standing.
- Your work experience is aligned with the vision and goals of STLHE.
- You are willing to lead and be part of a team.

Nomination Instructions
- If you are interested in this position or know of a good candidate, we encourage you to make a nomination. Self-nominations are welcome.
- STLHE encourages nominations from members of groups underrepresented in higher education, including Black and Indigenous peoples, members of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, and those who identify as having a disability.
If you would like to nominate someone as a Board of Directors member, follow (A) below. If you would like to self-nominate yourself as a Board of Directors member, follow (B) below.
A. You would like to nominate someone as a Board of Directors member:
- As the nominator, contact the individual you would like to nominate and ask them if they are open to being nominated.
- The nominee should then provide the nominator with a statement of interest (500 words max) that includes:

- An overview of their relevant background and experience (~200-250 words)
- An overview of their motivation and aspiration for the role (~200-250 words)
- The nominee may compose their statement of interest in either English or French, according to their preference. The Society will handle the translation into the other language.
- The nominator sends the statement of interest to the STLHE Nominations Committee at nominations@stlhe.ca.
B. You would like to self-nominate yourself as a Board of Directors member:
- If you are nominating yourself, prepare a statement of interest (500 words max) that includes:

- You may compose your statement of interest in either English or French, according to your preference. The Society will handle the translation into the other language.
- Send your statement of interest to the STLHE Nominations Committee at nominations@stlhe.ca.
Deadline and Confirmation
The deadline for nominations is April 21, 2025. The Chair of the STLHE Nominations Committee will contact the candidate by email to acknowledge and confirm the receipt of their nomination to the Board of Directors.
