3M NTF | Call for Program Coordinator

Overview 

The Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE) is seeking applications from qualified individuals interested in the position of Program Coordinator, 3M National Teaching Fellowships. Co-sponsored by STLHE and 3M Canada, the Fellowships recognize up to 10 faculty members at Canadian post-secondary institutions for their exceptional contributions to teaching, learning and educational leadership. The Coordinator manages the Fellowship throughout the year, recognizing that some responsibilities may become more intense prior to deadlines and upcoming events, and liaises with the STLHE Board of Directors and STLHE Executive Director who have oversight of all STLHE award programs.  

The Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of the Fellowship including the call for nominations, recruitment of adjudicators, coordination of the selection process, and oversight of the yearly Summit and cohort project. The Coordinator is accountable to the STLHE Board of Directors and works closely with the STLHE Executive Director on all aspects of running the program.   

As a member of the adjudication committee for this award, the Coordinator cannot be a current member of the STLHE Board of Directors. 

General Responsibilities 
  • Coordinates the yearly call for applications   
  • Manages the adjudication process to award up to ten Fellowships annually 
  • Organises the Fellowship Summit each fall. 
  • Oversees the relationship between the cohort and their facilitators. 
  • Works with the STLHE Executive Director and STLHE Board of Directors to cultivate an ongoing relationship with the program sponsor.  
  • Participates in monthly meetings of the executive of the Council of Fellows for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education and seeks their advice on special projects.  
  • Ensures the availability of new Fellows to attend the STLHE Annual Conference, Awards Ceremony, Dinner, and other related activities. 
  • Oversees the program budget. 
  • Liaises with the STLHE Annual Conference organizers to arrange the presentation ceremony and other program-related activities associated with the STLHE Annual Conference.  
  • Work closely with the STLHE Executive Director (or designated staff) to run the program.  
Qualifications 
  • STLHE member-in-good-standing  
  • Familiarity with the 3M NTF selection process  
  • Strong project management skills  
  • Suitable administrative and budget management experience  
  • Experience in managing faculty-led multi-institutional teams 
  • Willingness to commit the time necessary to achieve the goals of the 3MNTF Program  
  • Commitment to STLHE values and policies relevant to the awards program 
  • Bilingualism is an asset. 
Program Coordinator Supports 
  • Designated administrative support of the STLHE Administrative Centre through the STLHE Executive Director 
  • Access to tools and applications subscribed to by STLHE (e.g., Zoom for online meetings; Dropbox for file management, Teams, etc.)  
  • Knowledge and expertise of previous program coordinator through a side-by-side mentorship  
  • The STLHE Executive Director and STLHE Treasurer provide budget management support. 
Compensation 
  • Yearly honorarium of $2500. 
  • Reimbursement for travel for fellowship-related activities such as the Cohort Summit, Adjudication Meeting, and STLHE Annual Conference based on the STLHE Travel Policy and within the program budget.  
  • The position is voluntary. 
Term of Appointment 

The term of each appointment is four years beginning in January 2025. The term of appointment is subject to program funding and the contractual arrangement with the program sponsor and the Society.   The first year will be spent shadowing the current Program Coordinator and the final year is spent mentoring the next incoming coordinator.
