Call for applications :: Brightspace Award Coordinator

The Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education is seeking applications from qualified individuals interested in the volunteer position of Award Coordinator, for the Brightspace Innovation Award in Teaching and Learning This Award was established to celebrate and recognize innovative approaches that promote learning in new ways at post‐secondary institutions. The Award Coordinator oversees and manages the Innovation in Teaching and Learning Award throughout the year, although some responsibilities may become more intense prior to deadlines and upcoming events.


  • Works closely with the STLHE Chair of the Standing Committee on Awards in all aspects of the Award.
  • Chairs the Selection Committee meeting, and assists with adjudicating the annual winners.
  • Provides written feedback to unsuccessful nominators and nominees.
  • Writes and documents publicity-related material such as the call for proposals and announcements about the Award.
  • Prepares, and oversees the annual award budget in consultation with the Awards Chair.
  • Writes periodic reports for the STLHE Board of Directors.
  • Liaises with STLHE conference organizers to arrange the presentation ceremony.
  • Provides support and facilitation for the pre-conference Brightspace retreat at STLHE conferences.

Criteria for Applicants
  • STLHE member-in-good-standing
  • Strong interpersonal and oral and written communication and facilitation skills
  • Suitable administrative and budget experience
  • Willingness to commit the time necessary to achieve the goals of the Award
  • Ability to work on an ongoing basis with the STLHE Awards Chair, the STLHE Board of Directors, and the Sponsor
  • Bilingualism is an asset.

Term of Appointment
The term of each appointment is four years, beginning in July 2017.
