WebGraphic_250widthSTLHE 2016 Conference: Early bird registration for STLHE/SAPES 2016 is now open – please check the conference web site for details about registration rates. Information for those interested in being volunteers is also available now. Decisions from the peer review of proposals went out during the week of March 7th. Many, many thanks to the hundreds of colleagues who kindly agreed to review proposals! It was a huge undertaking and a rather daunting process but thanks to the good will of all of you, we were able to complete the peer reviews for all the submissions with relatively few glitches.

Budget250STLHE 2016 Budget: Our treasurer, Bob Sproule, has been hard at work and the Board of Directors approved the 2016 Budget for the Society at the February Face-to-face board meeting in Windsor. Use this link for to obtain a PDF copy of the Budget Summary.

Board_225Changes to the STLHE Board of Directors and Executive Committee: Changes were made to the governance of the Society at its Face-to-face meeting in Windsor on Februray 19th. Many of these changes come about because of the more frequent meetings of both the Board and Executive Committee and a need to streamline discussions and decision making. EDC and 3M Council Chairs were ex officio members of the Executive Committee and they and the Board agreed to be ex officio members of the Board, not the Executive. The Executive will consist of the President, Vice-president, Secretary, and Treasurer. To better integrate the College Sector and SoTL Canada Special Interest Groups the Chair of the College Sector Educators Community is now, ex officio, Chair of the Standing Committee for College Advocacy. A new Standing Committee, the Standing Committee for Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Canada, was created with the Chair of SoTL Canada being the ex officio chair of the new Standing Committee. We will be asking the membership to consider changes to policy and by-laws for these changes at the Annual general meeting of the Society this June in London Ontario.

Website_250Update and revitalization of the domain: The Board has embarked on an ambitious project to improve the Web/Internet presence of the Society and its affiliated groups. A RFP has been posted and we invite you to look it over, and pass it along to anyone who you feel may be able to help us build our new online presence. We will also be asking for your thoughts and feedback in a short questionnaire to our members that will be distributed in the coming weeks.

Upcoming dates and deadlines:

Jon Houseman
Secretary, STLHE.
