Selection Process and Timeline
All nominations are vetted for completeness prior to being circulated to the adjudication committee. The adjudication committee is organized and chaired by STLHEâ€™s award coordinator for the Brightspace Innovation Award in Teaching and Learning. Committee members are STLHE members and can include members who were previous recipients of the award (formerly named D2L Innovation Award).
Depending on the number of submissions received, each adjudication committee member will review and evaluate all applications, or a subset of applications. When a conflict of interest exists, the committee member does not evaluate the award or participate in the discussion of the candidate. Each committee member evaluates the application using a rubric and submits a score to the award coordinator. Typically the adjudication committee is given four to six weeks to complete their evaluation. The data from each adjudicator is organized and summarized by the award coordinator and a conference call is held to discuss the results and select up to five winners.
This yearâ€™s submission deadline is 12 February 2017. The adjudicators will be given until early April to complete their evaluations, with a conference call held the same week to select the recipients.
Successful and unsuccessful candidates are notified shortly after the selection process.
