The following is a summary of the press and media releases of the 2014 cohort of 3M National Student Fellows:


Ifeouluwatari (Tari) Ajadi, Quest University


Tari, is a writer and third year Bachelors of Liberal Arts and Science student. Since being named a 3M National Student Fellow he has been featured in his local newspaper The Squamish Chief.



Heather Carroll, Memorial University


Heather is a fourth year student (of 5-year program), completing her Bachelor of Primary/Elementary Education (Integrated French Immersion). She has been featured in an article on the Memorial Website Education Student Named 3M National Student Fellow

as well as in The Gazette Newspaper, Leading By Example: Education scholar named 3M National Student Fellow.



Shwetha Chandrashekha, University of Guelph


Shwetha is a third year, Bachelor of Commerce, Major in Human Resources Management. In addition to receiving the 3M National Student Fellowship, Shwetha is a frequent contributor to her campus newspaper and currently blogs on management and leadership issues in the workplace. She was selected as a national finalist in a business strategy competition, Focus 2040, in which she unveiled her vision for the world of work in the next thirty years.



Alex Harding, Dalhousie University


Alex a third year, Bachelor of Engineering, Electrical, is the first ever Dal student to receive the 3M National Student Fellowship. Since this time he has been featured in Dal News, a campus paper, in an article entitled Education that Changes the World. Additionally, Acadia University published an article Alumnus Named 2014 National Student Fellow.



Yuhao (Danny) Huang, University of Alberta


Danny is a third year, Honours Biochemistry student. Danny’s investigation into prostate cancer has received the Gold Medal, Platinum, and Best-in-Fair accolades at the Canada Wide Science Fair 2011 and was one of the four regional projects to represent Canada at the International Google Science Fair 2012.


Jaxson Khan, Huron University College


Jaxson is a third year, Honours Specialization in Global Development Studies. Since receiving the 3M Fellowship, he has been featured in Western News as well as in a Huron University College press release entitled Khan named 3M National Student Fellow



David Kim, University of British Columbia


David is a second year student in Medicine (MD). He has been featured prominently in UBC News, UBC Student named 3M National Student Fellow, in an article released by the Faculty of Medicine, Medical Student Awarded National Fellowship, and has been included in a blog by the Island Medical Program. 



Tye Landels, University of Victoria


Tye is in his third year, Bachelor of Arts, Honours English. Since his receiving his fellowship he has been featured in a number of articles.



Peter (Jianrui) Liu, University of Calgary


Peter is a third year Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences, with a major in Biomedical Sciences. An article in UToday titled Undergrad with passion receives 3M National Student Fellowship was featured at the U of C. His accomplishment was also publicized by the University of Calgary’s Bachelor of Health Sciences main web page.


Shannon McAvoy, University of Saskatchewan


Shannon is a third year in Regional and Urban Planning. Post the announcement of her receiving the Fellowship, she was highlighted in a number of articles.
