Welcome to the CWCA!

The Canadian Writing Centres Association is a national community of Writing Centre professionals who share resources, ideas, questions and concerns in both French and English.

Mission of the CWCA

To bring together as a bilingual community the people and groups interested in Canadian Writing Centres, their administration and their services, in order to enable sharing of resources, experiences, ideas and scholarship with the aim of enriching the services provided to students in higher education across Canada.

The goals of the CWCA are

  • To create a bilingual community of Writing Centre professionals.

  • To develop a network for communication among Writing Centres.

  • To provide a forum for Writing Centres to share resources in both English and French.

  • To offer professional development opportunities for Writing Centres in higher education.

  • To promote ideas and scholarship that will enrich services to students in higher education across Canada.

  • To serve as a resource on academic writing for STLHE members.

Community of Practice Website

Hosted by Royal Roads University and endorsed by the CWCA (June, 2011, at the CWCA AGM), the Community of Practice website is a space for sharing and communications amongst Canadian writing centre professionals. The goals for the community include (but are not limited to) mentorship, resource sharing (e.g., learning objects, publications, lessons learned, CWCA materials), and professional development.
