Each of the ten winners received a $5,000 award, registration at the 2012 STLHE annual conference, participation in a day-long retreat held in Montreal as well as accommodation and funds towards travel to Montreal. They were invited to take part in a collaborative project related to post-secondary education.
STLHE honoured the 2012 3M National Student Fellows formally at the annual conference, hosted by McGill University, Concordia University, Université de Montréal and Champlain College St. Lambert on June 21 in Montreal.
To help celebrate this first year of the award, the 2012 Fellows, along with student representatives from each of the host institutions, lead the Closing Plenary at the conference on June 22, moderated by Dr. Alice Cassidy, 3M NSF Award Coordinator. The paper from that presentation was published in Collected Essays on Teaching and Learning (CELT) volume 6, article 25.
This year’s inaugural group of 3M National Student Fellows will be creating a legacy that we know will assist many future years of undergraduate students across Canada.
