Arshad Ahmad was elected President of the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE) in June 2010. His term of office is four years.
Arshad earned his MBA and PhD at McGill University and is presently an Associate Professor at the Finance Department in the John Molson School of Business (JMSB) at Concordia University. His doctoral thesis earned him the George L. Geis best dissertation award in higher education.
Arshad has won several student based and university-wide awards from Concordia and McGill University. He was named Professor of the Year three times at the International Bled School of Management. In 1992, Arshad was nationally recognized for leadership in teaching with a lifetime 3M National Teaching Fellowship. He also coordinated the Fellowships Program for 10 years.
Arshad has authored three textbooks including Personal Finance and has consulted widely in industry on several areas in Corporate Finance. He has also been a Plenary speaker at several Conferences at Colleges and Universities and has also given pre-conference workshops, presented papers, and led panel discussions across Canada, the US, and overseas. Arshad has also trained teachers and led seminars on teaching and learning in China, Germany, France, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, Pakistan, Russia, Slovenia, Serbia, Trinidad & Tobago. He is known for his ability to design creative and student centered learning environments and to lead collaborative projects that enhance student learning.
